About

arkworks is a community-maintained Rust ecosystem providing the building blocks for SNARK development, including finite field and elliptic curve arithmetic, polynomial commitments, R1CS constraint synthesis, and implementations of proof systems such as Groth16 and Marlin. It is widely used as the cryptographic foundation for research prototypes and production systems alike, including parts of the Aleo stack. Because so many projects depend on its arithmetic primitives, correctness bugs in arkworks can have broad downstream impact, and its crates are a frequent subject of cryptographic review.
