About

Winterfell is an open-source STARK prover and verifier written in Rust, originally developed at Facebook (Meta) by Bobbin Threadbare and collaborators. It provides a clean AIR (Algebraic Intermediate Representation) interface for describing computations and produces transparent, post-quantum-plausible proofs without trusted setup. It served as the starting point for the Polygon Miden VM's proving stack and remains a well-regarded reference implementation for engineers studying or auditing STARK provers.
