About
Plonky3 is the successor to Plonky2, restructured as a modular toolkit of interchangeable proving components: small fields such as BabyBear and Mersenne31, hash functions, FRI-based polynomial commitment schemes, and AIR arithmetization. Rather than a single monolithic prover, it lets zkVM builders assemble a proving stack from vetted parts, and it is the backbone of Succinct's SP1 zkVM among others. Its position under multiple production zkVMs makes its soundness a systemic concern for the ecosystem.
